Whether you're a homeowner looking to rent your property or a renter looking for a good home, having a property manager who genuinely cares, knows the industry, and is well-connected makes a huge difference. Meet our newest Property Manager Cameron Tappe. He has those qualities and much more. Cameron first worked as a Windermere Real Estate Agent and then moved over to property management. He's highly involved in the community, dedicated to his clients, and has an interesting background. Read our Q & A to find out more.

1. What drew you to property management?

I was drawn to property management due to my 1.5 years of experience as a Realtor with Windermere Real Estate. During that time, I thoroughly enjoyed connecting with clients and helping them find homes that perfectly fit their needs. Transitioning into property management allowed me to continue my passion for real estate while building lasting relationships with both tenants and property owners, ensuring a positive and fulfilling experience for all involved. Being part of Windermere enables me to uphold the values of excellence, integrity, and community focus.  I take pride in delivering exceptional service to my clients.

2. Was this an obvious career path for you?

I realized that property management not only allowed me to continue my passion for real estate but also provided a unique opportunity to connect with a diverse range of individuals within the community. From working with top-quality vendors to building strong relationships with property owners and ensuring high-quality tenants, property management became the perfect way for me to bring together various members of the community to create positive experiences for everyone involved.

3. What do you love about working as a Windermere property manager?

What I love most about being a property manager is the opportunity to create a positive impact on people's lives. Whether it's helping clients find their dream homes or managing investment properties with the utmost care, I take pride in delivering exceptional service and building lasting relationships. Being part of the Windermere Property Management team allows me to ensure that our clients' needs are met with dedication and professionalism.

4. What’s the best part of your job?

Guiding clients to find their ideal homes and witnessing their joy and satisfaction is truly gratifying. Moreover, the dynamic nature of property management excites me as no two days are alike, providing continuous opportunities to learn and grow in the ever-evolving real estate landscape.

5. Every job has its challenges. What is one of the challenges of being a property manager and how do you try to address it?

One of the challenges of being a property manager is handling unexpected maintenance issues that can arise at any time. To address this, I prioritize proactive maintenance planning and maintain a network of reliable and skilled contractors.  By staying ahead of potential maintenance issues and having a reliable team on hand, I can swiftly address any concerns that arise. By leveraging technology, we can promptly coordinate maintenance requests, track progress, and ensure that all parties stay informed, leading to a smoother and more efficient resolution when an issue comes up.

6. What’s one surprising thing that clients and/or colleagues might not know about you?

During the time I was doing my real estate courses, I embraced a nomadic lifestyle and lived in a converted cargo van for 11 months. It was an adventurous and humbling experience that allowed me to fully immerse myself in my studies while exploring different places and discovering the simple joys of life on the road. This unique journey not only strengthened my determination to succeed in my real estate career but also instilled in me a sense of gratitude and adaptability that I carry with me to this day.

7. Name two personality traits that you possess and how they benefit your clients.

Firstly, my empathy allows me to genuinely understand the unique needs and concerns of my clients. This deep understanding enables me to tailor personalized solutions, ensuring that I can meet and exceed their expectations.

Secondly, my adaptability enables me to navigate various situations and challenges that may arise in the real estate industry. It allows me to quickly adjust to changing circumstances, find innovative solutions, and provide the best possible service even in dynamic and unpredictable environments.

8. Windermere Property Management/West Sound manages a variety of properties across Kitsap County. How long have you lived here and what do you think is one of the best parts about the Kitsap Peninsula?

Having lived in Kitsap County for four years, I have come to appreciate the unique charm and natural beauty that the Kitsap Peninsula offers. One of the best parts about this area is its perfect balance between serene landscapes and a vibrant community life. From picturesque waterfronts to lush forests and friendly neighborhoods, Kitsap County provides residents with an exceptional quality of life.

9. How do you try to stay involved in the community?

I make it a priority to stay actively involved in various community organizations and initiatives. I serve on the board for NW Hopeful Horizons, contribute as an ambassador with the Greater Kitsap Chamber, and actively participate as a Rotarian with Crossroads Rotary in Poulsbo.  Additionally, I work closely with Kitsap Community Resources and collaborate with the Charleston District Business Association to coordinate community events. These involvements allow me to give back, connect with fellow community members, and stay in tune with the needs and aspirations of the people I serve.

10. Can you share a recent professional moment that really filled you with joy?

Recently, during my time as a Realtor with Windermere, I had the pleasure of assisting a young couple in their search for their first home in beautiful Kitsap County. After patiently exploring various properties, we finally found a home that resonated with them, and they moved in with great excitement. It brings me immense joy to learn that they have since expanded their family with the arrival of their first child. Even more inspiring, they've taken environmentally conscious steps by installing solar panels, making meaningful updates to their home, and contributing to a sustainable future. Witnessing their journey from first-time homeowners to growing a family and embracing eco-friendly choices truly fills me with pride and reinforces my passion for delivering exceptional service as a Windermere property manager. It's rewarding experiences like these that motivate me to continue making a positive impact in the lives of my clients and the community I am privileged to serve.

Rainy days in the Pacific Northwest aren't for everyone, but there are many ways to make them more enjoyable. And, as we head into spring, keep in mind that this darker rainy season is temporary. Soon, we'll have more daylight hours, and spring flowers will be blooming. Check out these ideas for making rainy days as fun as possible. Stay active Whether it’s joining a local gym, starting an at-home gym practice, or going for a walk despite the rain, staying active is essential for your mental and physical health during the rainy season. Also, nature is the Pacific Northwest’s playground. Many local trails have thick forests that provide shelter from the rain and shield you from the worst of it. Invest in proper clothing and gear Similarly, if being outside and staying active is your preferred activity method, don’t let the weather stop you. Investing in proper clothing, shoes, and gear can make almost any day an outside day. Many local stores, like Wildernest on Bainbridge Island and Flicka in Poulsbo, have waterproof jackets and shoes . Invest in a pair of warm wool socks to keep your feet dry. On really cold days, put a pair of warmers into your gloves or shoes. Talk to a doctor about options If you're new to the Pacific Northwest, consider talking to your doctor about other ways to help your body physically adapt to the winter weather and darkness that is unique to this area. They might recommend daily vitamin D supplements and a sun lamp . Sun lamps mimic natural light and can be effective for those with Seasonal Affective Disorder. Speak to your doctor before making any changes. Try boredom busters for kids Do you have kids who are starting to bounce off the walls or are (conversely) staying glued to their devices? Check out this list of fun boredom busters to break up the long days. Even a quick card or board game can put a spark of controlled energy into the room. There are also many local indoor play spaces to choose from in the area. There are play spaces for toddlers , indoor trampoline parks , laser tag venues , and arcades for teens. Lean into seasonal sports Enjoying a winter sport can mean everything from watching it live to watching it on TV to participating in it. Living so close to the Olympic Mountains and Mount Rainier means various options for skiing, snowboarding, tubing, snowshoeing, and more. In addition, for those looking to watch sports live in the winter, Seattle is home to many professional teams, as well as minor league and college teams. If you prefer to stay off the roads and in the comfort of your own home, invite a couple of friends over to watch a game together. Start a new hobby For many, the rainy days provide a little more time since there’s often less running around. You can use that extra time to pick up a new hobby. Perhaps you’d like to get on the sourdough bread bandwagon, pick up woodworking, or learn how to knit. Maybe you’ve never made a mosaic but want to give it a try. Whatever you choose, these slower days provide the perfect opportunity to give it a whirl. BARN (Bainbridge Artisan Resource Network) hosts a range of workshops in an incredible space. Be sure to check them out. Choose an indoor home project to complete Meanwhile, if you feel stuck at home and don’t feel like picking up a new hobby, then why not tidy up your home a bit? Since this is the time of year when you may find yourself at home more, think about doing something that will make it feel more inviting. Purge old clothes, household items, and toys no longer being used. Pick a room to reorganize or rearrange the furniture. Hang up the pictures that you’ve been meaning to get to, or re-paint your home office. Tackling and completing a home improvement project will create a great sense of accomplishment. Take the time to slow down On the other hand, many take rainy days as an opportunity to embrace a slower lifestyle. That could mean spending the day reading a book or finding a new series to binge-watch without feeling guilty. Perhaps you let yourself enjoy a cup of coffee or tea in the morning for a longer amount of time. Or, since it’s dark outside, go to bed earlier or sleep in on the weekends. Some call it wintering and fully accept the conditions of this season while remaining home. Embrace Scandinavian Hygge Concepts Faced with even worse weather challenges in the winter than those in the Pacific Northwest, many Scandinavian countries still top the world happiness charts. How do they do it? Explore the concept of Danish hygge and find ways to embrace it in your own life. Check out this list of 100 Ideas to Add Hygge Into Your Everyday Life . Candles, warm blankets and a favorite mug for hot drinks are just the tip of the iceberg to creating a life of hygge. Plan a future trip Having something to look forward to can help pass the time during long rainy stretches. Think of an activity or trip that you’d like to do in the future and start planning. It could be an overnight trip or your weeklong summer vacation. It can be a camping trip, a day at the spa, or an upcoming concert. If all else fails, plan next year’s vacation to somewhere warm during this time to escape the cold days. It doesn’t matter where you go, or when you go, or for how long. Simply put something on the calendar you’re looking forward to and start making it happen. We know the rainy season isn't for everyone. Keep in mind that longer, sunnier days are on the horizon. In the meantime, take advantage of some of these ideas to make the next few weeks (and future winters) not just bearable but enjoyable.
